I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. (John 13:34).
Catholics care. That is a simple yet profound statement. It is true historically, it is true today, and we want it to be true in the future. Through our religious formation, we learned about the corporeal and spiritual works of mercy. Everyone matters. Everyone deserves food, health care, housing, meaningful work and time for recreation.
As Pope Francis reminded us during the pandemic, “our Catholic social tradition can help the human family heal this world that suffers from serious illnesses. It is my desire that everyone reflect and work together, as followers of Jesus who heals, to construct a better world, full of hope for future generations (see Apostolic Exhortation, Evangelii gaudium, 24, November 2013, no. 183)”.
