We are excited to continue to spotlight some of our Microgrant recipients to share the amazing work they are doing! This week we are spotlighting the work of Chaminade University of Honolulu. In their words . . .
Students and faculty from Chaminade University of Honolulu School of Nursing and Health Professions held a Parish Health event at St. Theresa's Co-Cathedral in Honolulu on Sunday, April 24, 2022, to provide health education on COVID-19 vaccines, boosters, and self-test kits. Students prepared for this event by reviewing Hawaii Department of Health and Center for Disease Control materials for healthcare providers on how to communicate about vaccines. Before and after Sunday morning masses, students distributed informational flyers, health teaching about vaccines, as well as COVID-19 self-test kits to approximately 200 parishioners along with demonstrations on how to use the at-home kits. They also guided parishioners in the use of their camera phones to scan QR codes leading to additional instructional videos and maps of vaccine providers in the Honolulu area. Materials were made available in English, Tagalog, Chuukese, Vietnamese, and Chinese to accommodate the parish demographics.
