We are the Catholic Cares Coalition. We do not just care “about” each person as an abstraction. Our members are on the front line caring “for” each person. We see faces. We care for this person and that person through health care, education, parish life, justice and peace, and social services.
We continue to care about global vaccine acceptance and equity. In the US, the CDC reports 97.6 million cases with daily incidence rising slightly and 1.07 million deaths. The mortality rate has remained steady. Hospitalizations remain stable. Globally, COVID infected 630.6 million people and is declining in Europe and increasing in South-East Asia, Western Pacific, and Africa. According to the World Health Organization, the number of global deaths dropped 90% over the last nine months. Globally, COVID-19 caused 6.58 million deaths.
